WHAT'Z N' MY NAME? Creating A Unique Name Plate: This is one of my favorite Art Projects due to it's simplicity and "Early Literacy" value.

Ask the questions below before starting to create.

1.What is your name?

2. Consider your name.

3. What does it mean to you?

4. How does it make you feel?

5. Do you know from whence it came?

6. Does my name speak for me?

7. What does my name say about me?



Materials Needed

  • Pre-cut colorful cardstock for Name plates

  • Miniature flowers (Michael’s/Hobby Lobby)

  • Pre-cut triangles-creative scissors( glitter or any decorative Art or scrapbook paper)

  • Mardi Gras beads or any decor beads

  • Pre-cut Name Plate holders

  • Elmer’s glue

  • Markers

The items listed above are suggestions. The goal is always to allow the 

artist freedom of expression.

15-20m activity

Ages vary between 3-15


Instructions (best results)

  • Write Name to fit size of card

  • Glue dots to suggest placement of 

decorations.

  • Add decorations to letters

  • Optional Add the pre-cut circle for 

hanging purposes.

Standards Awareness

  • Recognizes a group of letters as a word.

  • Attempts to write.

  • Names letters in print.

  • Sorts letters from other symbols.

  • Names first letter (beginning sounds) in words.
